OK Go presents their sweet cover of “The Muppet Show Theme Song” from the new Muppets: The Green Album.
As you might expect, I’m pretty excited about the big screen return of the muppets. This little video from OK GO starring some of our Muppet friends is a pretty tasty morsel, especially if you’ve ever seen any of the OK GO music videos featuring treadmills, dogs, unitards and other such meme-y-ness.
THE MUPPETS will hit theaters Nov 23rd, 2011. (Kermit the Frog voice: Yayyyyyyy!!!!!)
I promise not to go all muppet crazed on you today. But you should watch this little piece of inspiration featuring twin Kermits performing an epic rendition of the Bowie/Queen song “Under Pressure”. A slow starter, this video gets better every second and builds to a powerful finish. (you know, just like me)
This stop-animation short is crazy cool on a number of levels. It stars a 9mm girl named Dot as she struggles through a microscopic world. Beside it’s obvious twee charm, there are two things about this that are hugely impressive:
-Dot is officially the world’s smallest stop motion character according to Guinness.
-All the minuscule detail was shot using CellScope technology and a Nokia N8, with its 12 megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics. Check out The Making of Dot below!

Jim Henson filmed this for public television in Iowa eight years before I was born . It’s a bit long, but a wonderfully rare look at Jim’s naturally gentle vibe when he’s not hiding behind a puppet. Plus, it’s hard not to love a guy who can rock a burgundy velvet jumpsuit and doesn’t seem the vaguest bit creepy.
I love this! “Marcel The Shell With Shoes On”, directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp with the voice of Marcel by SNL’s Jenny Slate.
A little advertising magic from the people at LucasFilms. This likely means we can look forward to seeing other childhood treasures updated with pop stars for better or worse. (Can we get around to putting ME in the Muppet Movie already?) But I will say that the force is clearly strong with Snoop Dogg and he makes a nice addition to the Cantina.
This big baby isn’t just passively sitting there waiting for you to walk up to it and have your picture taken with it, this bad boy is an animatronic monster that moves. Created for guests of the Shanghi Expo 2010 coming May 1st. The robo-baby was built by the special effects artists behind Alien V. Predator and given life by Spanish film director Isabel Coixet.
I love every moment of this short and it’s mastery of puppet craft by Mr. Oizo, I only wish there were more…

Dear readers, a treat from Dr. Reid’s vault. An absolute classic from The Muppet Show, Kermit the frog reporting live from the Planet Koosbane. Sadly, something tells me this clip would be too sexually explosive to air in a children’s program these days. Double sadly, this was actually how I learned about the bird’s and the bees, which would explain an awful lot.
